Still Life with dried Magnolia Leaves, Peaches and Nautilus

Oil on panel
16” by 20”
The magnolia represents fidelity, while the peach symbolizes love, longevity, and fertility. The nautilus is an example in nature of the Fibonacci ratio, also known as the golden ratio or golden mean, thought by many to be the proportion most pleasing to the eye. Artists often use this ratio to divide their canvases for object placement to obtain more pleasing compositions. This ratio, found throughout nature, symbolizes for many, what is deemed beautiful.

Water Lily

Oil on linen
16” by 20”
The water lily was chosen for this painting because this native floating plant is found in many Delmarva Peninsula locations. It is symbolic of good fortune, peace and enlightenment. The water lily is significant in many religions, but especially in Buddhism and Hinduism, where it represents resurrection and purity.
