Decorated pumpkins and pumpkin foods feature in the Mexican celebration called Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, when spirits of the dearly departed are invited back to visit the living. Pumpkins are also traditional symbols of Halloween, Thanksgiving and the fall harvest.

Four leaf clovers have long been associated with good luck. They are a rare form of the usually three- leafed white clover (Trifolium repens). Frequently, a patch will contain more than one, as well as an occasional five or six-leafed specimen. In the middle ages, some believed that a four-leafed clover enabled one to see fairies and plant sprites.
